Autoreply
A message sent automatically by the recipient's mail system, such as an out-of-office notice, with no human behind it.
An autoreply is any message generated by software rather than typed by a person: an out-of-office notice, a “thank you, we have received your email” acknowledgement, a ticket number from a support desk, or a note that the address is no longer monitored. It arrives in your inbox like a reply, but nobody has read what you wrote.
Autoreplies matter for two reasons. First, they distort your numbers if you count them as responses: a campaign can look lively when half the “replies” are vacation notices. Second, they carry useful information. An out-of-office message often names a colleague to contact and a return date, which is a better follow-up plan than a blind third email. A notice that the address is closed tells you to remove it before it turns into a bounce.
Seegnals classifies incoming replies automatically, and Autoreply / Out of office is one of the classes. Such a reply is shown as Autoreplied in campaign stats, separately from Replied, so your response figures only count people. You can reclassify with one click if the sorter got it wrong.
