Prospect

A person you have chosen to contact because their role and company fit what you sell, before any conversation has started.

A prospect is a named person at a target company who matches the profile of the people you want to talk to. The word marks a stage: a prospect has not yet replied or agreed to anything. Once they answer with interest, most teams call them a lead or an opportunity; until then, they are a row in a list with a name, an email address, a company and whatever else you know about them.

The quality of prospects decides the outcome of a campaign more than any wording does. A good prospect has a verifiable address, a role that plausibly cares about your problem, and a company that fits your criteria for size, sector and geography. A poor prospect is a guessed address at a company you would not want as a client. In account-based outbound, prospects also have a place in a plan: who at this company do you write to first, and who follows if the first stays silent.

In Seegnals prospects are imported from CSV with column mapping, verified on import and shown in a table with per-column filters, bulk actions and CSV export. Every prospect belongs to a company by email domain, and the campaign’s Prospects tab shows each person’s status in the sequence.
